Overview

The Icetubs IceBarrel Cold Plunge with Stairs – Thermowood & Stainless Steel (SKU 129675) combines a premium upright ice bath with integrated cooling technology and a matching stair system for more convenient entry and exit. Designed for one person, this cold plunge features a natural Thermowood exterior, a 304-grade stainless steel interior, and a built-in seat for supported cold-water immersion.

Unlike reclining cold plunge tubs, the IceBarrel features a vertical bathing design that allows users to remain seated during immersion. Its 26.8-inch interior diameter and approximately 26.5-inch seating depth create a compact soaking area without requiring the extended footprint of a rectangular ice bath.

The included 1 HP Icetubs cooling engine electronically cools the water to temperatures as low as 37.4°F (3°C), reducing the need to purchase and manually add ice. Adjust the temperature through the engine control panel or supported mobile-app functions. Three-stage filtration, a replaceable 5-micron filter, and integrated ozone treatment support ongoing water maintenance.

This configuration also includes a matching Thermowood stair assembly with stainless steel handrails. The stairs integrate with the cooling-engine area, helping provide a more accessible entry arrangement while maintaining the barrel's relatively compact overall footprint.

With a 92.5-gallon water capacity, insulated locking cover, and dedicated cooling equipment, the Icetubs IceBarrel with Stairs is a complete cold plunge system for a properly prepared home wellness space. Customers interested in warm-water operation can inquire about the manufacturer's optional heater upgrade, which supports temperatures up to 100.4°F (38°C) when installed.

Configuration Note: This listing includes the standard-size IceBarrel, cooling engine, and matching stairs. It is not the larger IceBarrel XL, which has a different interior material and greater water capacity. Heating equipment is not assumed to be included unless confirmed for the purchased configuration.

Features

  • Upright Cold Plunge Design: The cylindrical basin provides a seated immersion experience for users who prefer a vertical position rather than reclining in a traditional bath-style tub.
  • Premium 304 Stainless Steel Interior: A smooth stainless steel soaking basin offers a refined appearance and durable construction when maintained using manufacturer-approved water-care products.
  • Natural Thermowood Exterior: Thermally modified wood provides the distinctive appearance of a traditional wooden barrel with improved resistance to environmental exposure compared with untreated wood.

  • Integrated Stair and Engine Layout: The stairs are designed to fit over the cooling-engine area for a coordinated appearance without requiring a separate freestanding staircase.
  • Built-In Interior Seat: An integrated stainless steel seat supports a comfortable upright position during individual immersion.
  • 92.5-Gallon Water Capacity: The 350-liter basin provides room for one-person immersion while maintaining a smaller overall bathing footprint than the XL model.
  • Included 1 HP Cooling Engine: The Icetubs Engine electronically cools and circulates water, eliminating the need to purchase a separate chiller for the standard cooling configuration.
  • Cooling Down to 37.4°F: The cooling system supports temperatures as low as 37.4°F (3°C), subject to operating conditions and the manufacturer's requirements.
  • Optional Heating Upgrade: A compatible manufacturer-approved heater can enable warm-water temperatures up to 100.4°F (38°C). Heater inclusion must be confirmed separately.

  • Integrated Ozone Treatment: Built-in ozone provides supplemental water treatment alongside filtration and approved cleaning and water-care procedures.
  • Insulated Thermo Cover: The included locking cover helps reduce heat transfer and limits debris entering the water between sessions.
  • Indoor and Outdoor Placement: Suitable for appropriately prepared locations that meet the manufacturer's structural, electrical, ventilation, drainage, and environmental requirements.
  • No Permanent Plumbing Required: The IceBarrel can be filled and drained using the approved hose attachments and drainage procedures.

Installation

The Icetubs IceBarrel with Stairs is designed for installation on a stable, level surface capable of safely supporting the complete system, water, and occupant. The matching stair assembly attaches around the cooling-engine area to create an integrated entry arrangement.

Space Planning: The installed configuration measures approximately 61.4 inches long, 30.6 inches wide, and 52.2 inches high. Allow additional space for safe movement around the stairs, lifting and securing the Thermo Cover, ventilation around the engine, filter replacement, cleaning, and maintenance. Follow the current installation manual for actual minimum clearances.

Structural Support: The complete assembly weighs approximately 379.2 pounds empty and 1,150.1 pounds when filled with water, before adding a bather. The supporting surface must accommodate the fully loaded system and user. Have a qualified contractor or structural engineer verify elevated decks or other structures where load capacity is uncertain.

Indoor Installation: Position the barrel on stable, moisture-resistant flooring with appropriate drainage nearby. Provide sufficient air circulation around the cooling engine, which releases heat during operation. Avoid carpets, moisture-sensitive surfaces, and areas where water spills or condensation could damage nearby materials.

Outdoor Installation: Choose a level, structurally suitable location with appropriate water drainage and protection for electrical connections. Follow the manufacturer's specified ambient-temperature limits, cold-weather precautions, and weather-exposure requirements.

Cooling Engine Setup: Install the engine using the supplied connectors and rubber seals according to the official Icetubs installation diagram. Check the water connections for leaks, keep airflow unobstructed, and follow the manufacturer's required handling and startup procedure before switching on the engine.

Stair Assembly: Assemble the matching Thermowood steps and stainless steel handrails using the included hardware. Follow the manufacturer's stair installation instructions, confirm that all fasteners are secured, and check the stability of the completed assembly before use. Maintain the specified engine ventilation and service access around the stair structure.

Electrical Requirements: U.S. distributor specifications identify a 110V/60Hz cooling engine with a listed maximum current of 14.5A. However, Icetubs also supplies international configurations with different electrical specifications. Have a qualified electrician verify the exact supplied engine's nameplate, circuit capacity, outlet type, grounding, ground-fault protection, and local electrical requirements. Do not determine breaker or wiring requirements from distributor marketing specifications alone.

Water Supply and Drainage: Permanent household plumbing is not required. Fill the barrel with clean water through the manufacturer's approved procedure and maintain the specified water level. Drain using the approved hose connection and ensure the discharge area is suitable for the water volume.

Initial Startup: Inspect the stainless steel basin, stair assembly, handrails, cooling engine, cover, filter, and water connections before use. Complete the required filling, circulation, priming, and startup checks. Never operate the cooling system without adequate water flow or with obstructed ventilation.

Operation and Usage

The Icetubs IceBarrel with Stairs provides electronically controlled cold-water immersion through its included 1 HP cooling engine. Users can adjust the water temperature directly from the engine controls or through supported Wi-Fi app functions, allowing the plunge to be prepared without manually adding ice. Warm-water operation is available only when the appropriate heater upgrade is installed.

  • Starting the System: Confirm the barrel contains the required water volume, the filter is installed, and the cooling engine has unobstructed water circulation. Start the equipment using the manufacturer's approved operating procedure.
  • Cold-Water Temperature Control: Select the desired temperature using the engine panel or compatible app. Icetubs lists a minimum cooling temperature of 37.4°F (3°C), subject to suitable operating conditions.
  • Optional Heating: With an approved heater upgrade, the system can support water temperatures up to 100.4°F (38°C). Do not assume heating is available unless the supplied engine includes the required equipment.
  • Using the Stairs: Enter and exit slowly using the Thermowood steps and stainless steel handrails for support. Ensure the stair assembly is stable and the walking area is clear before each session.
  • Upright Seated Immersion: Use the integrated stainless steel seat for a supported immersion position. The standard IceBarrel is designed for one person at a time.
  • Wi-Fi and App Controls: Follow Icetubs' current connectivity instructions to pair the cooling engine with the compatible smartphone app. Supported functions include temperature adjustment, scheduling, and system monitoring.
  • Auto/Eco Mode: Use the engine's automatic operating settings according to the manufacturer's instructions. Actual energy consumption depends on the selected temperature, surrounding conditions, and duration of operation.
  • Three-Stage Filtration: Water circulates through the integrated filtration system, including a replaceable 5-micron cartridge that helps capture suspended debris and particles.
  • Ozone Treatment: The built-in ozone system supplements routine water care. Ozone and filtration do not eliminate the need for proper maintenance, approved water treatment, filter replacement, and periodic cleaning.
  • Filter Replacement: Icetubs generally recommends replacing filters approximately every month under typical residential use. Inspect the filter regularly and follow the current manufacturer instructions for replacement.
  • Approved Water-Care Products: Use only cleaning and water-treatment products approved by Icetubs. The manufacturer warns against chlorine, salts, and harsh chemicals that may damage the stainless steel, engine, or other components and affect warranty coverage.
  • Thermo Cover: Secure the insulated cover when the barrel is not in use to help limit heat transfer and reduce debris entering the water. Follow the manufacturer's locking instructions.
  • Cleaning the Stainless Steel Interior: Clean the basin using suitable nonabrasive materials and manufacturer-approved cleaning products. Avoid corrosive chemicals, rough brushes, and methods that could damage the finish.
  • Stair and Handrail Maintenance: Inspect the Thermowood steps, stainless steel handrails, and mounting hardware regularly. Keep stepping surfaces clean and address loose fasteners or damage before use.
  • Water Replacement: Monitor water quality and replace the water as required by the manufacturer's instructions, usage, and maintenance conditions. Use the approved drainage procedure before cleaning or refilling.
  • Cold-Weather Operation: Follow the manufacturer's specific operating and storage requirements for freezing conditions. Do not allow water to freeze inside the engine, circulation equipment, or plumbing outside approved conditions.

Important: Cold-water immersion can cause rapid breathing, loss of coordination, and significant cardiovascular stress. Begin with conservative temperatures and short sessions, avoid plunging alone, and exit immediately if you experience dizziness, chest discomfort, breathing difficulty, weakness, or unusual fatigue. Never practice breath-holding or hyperventilation while immersed. Consult a healthcare professional before cold-water immersion if you have cardiovascular concerns or other relevant medical conditions. Wet stairs and handrails require careful use to reduce slipping hazards.
